A few weeks ago I heard that Mrs. V of Olivia Lehti’s Strictly Style blog is looking for a photographer to document her pregnancy. I checked out Mrs. V’s blog ( being guilty of not knowing it before) and immediately felt that she should no longer look for a photographer – I was so looking forward to being the one. And so I wrote her an email that actually contained the words:
“I heard you are looking for a photographer. Well, look no more, I would be very honored to document such an important part of your life.”
Apparently some of my previous clients also wrote to her with a similar message (thank you, everyone) and so Mrs. V decided to trust me with such an important task and … in short the universe has decided that I was to photograph her belly.
And so we set a pre-session meeting to discuss what are her wishes and ideas for the shoot (classic, timeless, black and white, and for the love of God – nothing too sexy!) and the moment I laid my eyes on this spectacular lady I knew it’s true – she really is SO STYLISH, and that stretches across her entire life – home, closet and manners as well. And smile, the honest, radiant, wonderful smile of a person who is utterly happy…
We shot in her home that she shares with a husband and two to-die-for dogs (who loved me and I loved them back, I am a fan for big fury friends). The second part of our shoot happened on Senaatitori in the very center of Helsinki in front of the Cathedral. I love that place, it’s so full of light and city-feel and it’s such a Helsinki iconic spot. It also has a special meaning for Mrs. V and her family … as they don’t get nearly enough time to spend around there.
In respect of their family privacy we agreed to publish only images of Mrs. V alone, none of the hubby or baby boy, who was born couple of days ago (congratulations!) and who I am going to photograph this week as well.
Goofball as I am, I was running around the Senaati tori bare feet, making ooh aah noises and being an attraction to the tourist everywhere. We had the unpleasant intermezzo with a drunk man – but that was to be expected on such a place during a sunny summer evening. That didn’t stop us from enjoying the moment… The sun was setting over the city and I felt so happy and alive… Thank you Mrs. V, I can’t wait to meet you again! ♥♥♥
And this is me working … no wonder my back hurts! I have started exercising it … no need to worry for my health, thank you
Allright my dear readers, if you liked these images share them on Facebook or Twitter (below) or use the Pin It buttons to pin your favorite images from this session! And of course, leave me a comment, especially if you have good tips for exercising lower back muscles. Talk to you soon!
PS: If you want to read how Mrs. V sees the experience, please have a look at her blog post Our expectancy by Niki Strbian about the session.
