Me so sad. I am loosing a friend. She’s moving away, getting a cool job (the sports newsreader on a national Czech TV channel), taking her oh so sweet (and oh so hyperactive) boy with her. He’s my daughter’s friend. I wanted to gift her and her family with a few photos while they are still here and while there is still summer here too. Kate is a former athlete and her hubby is among other roles an athletic coach, no wonder their boy is a physically gifted child who outrun his peers by about 10 meters on a 40 meter sprint
No wonder we chose their base sport stadium as a location for our session. I hope you will enjoy your photos, my dears.
Oh and by the way, if you wonder where the nick is coming from … a diminutive of the Czech version Katerina is Kacenka, which incidently also means a duckling. Before my daughter learned how to speak properly, she always used to call Kate “quack-quack”.
We’ll miss you. That’s all.

It was many years ago, just another party of our Czech community where I met just another Finnish girl. But about her I was thinking: Finally a Finnish friend! As I found out later, she was thinking: Finally a Czech friend!
What was so striking about her? Her eyes? Yes. Her sense of humour? Yes. Her honesty? Yes. Her husband? Her Czech husband, yes
And so we met the couple, who was to have a great son – our godson, and a little beautiful lady – my daughter’s best friend to date. We are lucky to have you!
This looks like a home fire accident, but in fact it’s a traditional Finnish savusauna – smoke sauna. Dearies, this is to remind you that you are so hot you could burn a house down
… that is Not Available, Engaged and So in Love. We had a lot of fun in a great place called Marketanpuisto, basically a display park for all kinds of different architectural and gardening related companies. Great spot for outing with kids too! Harsh wind and high sun could not have stopped us. Thanx for such a great afternoon! Enjoy your sneak peak.

I love asking strangers if they want to model for me. In a shop, on the street, in a cafe, in a park, I ask anywhere. When I started long time ago, I was so shy. Then a friend photographer explained gently that out of ten, nine people will be flattered and will say yes. Soon I found it true and since then I have enjoyed this little sport of mine tremendously. And so I came across this beautiful young lady when waiting in the line for a new phone number. Few sentences later we agreed to meet for a shoot. Finding a common free afternoon was no so easy and we settled on yesterday’s early evening as the only option during summer. And of course, it had to rain! If it was only rain, but it was pouring down on us…. Thank mother Nature that my camera is waterproof.

Getting engaged was always among the top three most romantic things on my “what I want from life” list. But when I got asked for my hand in marriage, it was not a romantic affair, even though it included a nice walk high up in the mountains. We settled the details about when and where of our wedding with no extra fluff while I was resting my cramping feet. Yep, I was a month away from giving birth to our firstborn. Maybe because of this emotional gap, it gives me extra pleasure to photograph couples who just got engaged. Like these two – getting on one knee with Frank Sinatra in the background and champange in the glasses during the white nights in summer Helsinki was certainly very romantic, Mister! More pics coming once we photograph in daylight as well
