Maternity session (raskausajan kuvaus) is scheduled at any moment after your belly starts being more prominent than your breasts and can be photographed anytime right up to the last day before your delivery. However the best portrait time are weeks 32-36. Rest assured that we will not judge you if you only want pictures of yourself posing as Demi Moore and none of your newborn baby. A typical maternity session lasts 1-2 hours and is photographed both indoors and outdoors.
The indoors part can take place in your home and I usually use your bedroom for it. It’s good to have one colored light bedsheets on the bed for the session, I prefer white, but other light colors are fine too. You don’t need a selection of lingerie, it’s enough if you have matching panties and bra. And while you might laugh at it now, wait till your breasts start growing. ![]()
The outdoors part can take place on any favorite location that you might have – in the city, in the nature or in the middle of a river – all are fine with me. If you are not sure about your garderobe selection, send me a photo and I will happily help you with your choices. Accessorize. Always accessorize.
One thing you should know. I consider belly sessions to be a celebration of you being pregnant and so there is no need to feel guilty that you have not had the belly photos taken with your older child(ren). I will photograph you alone and also together with your kids and your husband, unless you wish otherwise. And yes, you will look beautiful, happy and serene, even if you don’t feel quite sure about your body. I promise.

Newborn session (vastasyntyneen kuvaus, vauvakuvaus) is ideally scheduled when your fresh package of joy is 5-8 days old. We have photographed babies younger as well as older, but we feel that 3-4 weeks is the latest moment when a newborn baby can be photographed in the same manner as on images in our newborn gallery.
As we don’t know when the baby will be born, I schedule your due date in my calendar and so can take the appropriate amount of sessions during any given time. Ideally you inform me on the first or second day after your baby is born and we book a date that is suitable for both of us. The photoshoot most often takes place in your home (easy for the mama = no stress for the baby = magic for the images). We start around 9 am (this part is slightly negotiable).
Be prepared for a session lasting 3-4 hours directed by the new miniature boss, so I recommend not having any other plans for the same day. I work with an assistant a.k.a. The Baby Whisperer to ensure your baby’s safety and happiness during the session.
And as much as this is all about the baby, I want you to look as beautiful as you do in your belly images. Which means yes to the make-up and a good selection of clothes. If you want to wear a fancy dress from the time before your pregnancy, it doesn’t have to (and most likely it won’t) fit you perfectly, I have photographed beautiful dresses with open zippers on the back oh-so-many times. It’s enough that it looks good from the front (that’s how the fashion world does it and it’s good enough for us too).
